Testing out the video portion of my camera

I have been debating on whether to get an SLR camera for Kaz. I am so impressed with the pictures, but honestly, I don't want to lug around a larger camera. I love my lil Canon Powershot SD700is. I think it takes decent pictures, I Just need to learn how to use it. I tested the video portion of it because I also do not really want to haul my camcorder to Kaz. I'm not a very good camcorder mom. We have one, but I never use it. I'm good at taking pictures, not so good with video. You can also see why Sean is so much fun to hang out with and why he HAS to go to Kaz. If I can succeed in uploading this video from Monday at Epcot, you can see the lil toddler behind him who is watching Sean and imitating him. It was pretty darn cute. Ok, here goes nothing...I hope this works.

Yeah! You got the video up! Can you teach me how to do that?

Sean is so cool. He should be in our show, he'd fit right in! Hope he feels better.

Love the little boy behind Sean imitating him!

You need to get a Flip! It's like $100 and is small like a digital camera. It fits into anything and takes about 60 minutes of video. I love mine and take it with me everywhere. I think it would be perfect for Kaz because you sound like me, not into the video but you can take some quick footage and put it away. Awesome!

Well aren't you the one!!! You got it working, yeah!! and you didn't do like us and wait until the day before Kaz to figure it out. Sean is a cutie!! Gena

Very fun!! Can I have some of his energy? :-)

I tell Jim that video is useless to me (from the real video camera, not our little point-and-shoot). I can't do anything with it. I can't even get it off the camera, much less view it, much less post it!! LOL! If he didn't exist in my life, all I would have is 30 second snippets (that's all the camera could take) of plain old video to show and absolutely NONE of the fancy stuff he does. So I hear you on that!

We are going to get the dSLR though, but the smaller one. The pictures are just so doggone good. I NEVER used to take pictures before Gigi. If someone had told me I'd be taking 100-200 pictures a day once I arrived in Kaz, I would have thought they were nuts. When I arrived though, it dawned on me that this was possibly a once in a lifetime opportunity and I needed to capture and absorb as much as I possibly could. Click, click, click. 7 months later, I wish I had taken more. A LOT more! Guess I'll just have to go back! :-)

Sean is too cool. I just showed the boys the video and they look forward to meeting him. We are not sure what we are bringing with us yet. I have a hard time using a small point an shoot camera - they always are fuzzy. I am the worst photgrapher.

Hi Susan! Congratulations on finding out where your going! It won't be long now!

Your son, Sean, is adorable! I know he can't wait to meet Baby Kaz. He will be an awesome big brother.

Serik CRIED wanting to watch the video again! He loved watching Sean. We took our Elf, it was easy and took 3 minutes videos. We also almost crashed our laptop trying to load them all onto it. We had a lot of videos and pictures! Maybe take a flash drive or something like that too?

Nice work! Sounds like you will have all you really need to capture still photos and some fun videos while in Kaz. Traveling light is always good.

We're still planning to bring our Canon Powershot (with video capability) as well as our Nikon D40 and our small Sony Handycam.

We were able to carry/navigate them all during our trip to Italy without too much trouble. I'm sure we will wish we had them in Kaz if we don't take them. Once in a lifetime chance and all...

Sean is so adorable and fun! It was nice to actually hear a little bit of your voice too. Cool.

You did it Mom, you made the You Tube video, now you can officially take off to Kaz, you are ready! :) I didn't even try the You Tube thing until I was in Kaz, so you are being very proactive. Just a bit of advice, be sure your camera is on a small setting for quality and keep your videos very short while in Kaz (if you intend to post them to your blog); it takes forever to upload them on your dial up. :)

I'm learning how to use that function on my camera, too. I got it to work, but couldn't get it to download to put on my blog :-( Thanks for the comment on our blog. Mateo would love any dinosaur books if you have any! He has one from the school library right now.

That Sean is such the entertainer. How's he feeling? Having the flu is such a downer. Here's hoping he's back to his old self soon.

Nice job! And I love the poem from your last post- I just saw it. I was sad to hear Astana didn't work out, but it sounds like Kostanai was meant to be. Can't wait to see your video footage over there! And Sean- that guy looks like he has an awesome personality, he looks like such a fun loving/ free spirited kid!

Yes, your choices over there are Fanta, Coke and Sprite and sometimes coke light which is nasty.

You will get there. You are going to a great region. It will happen.
