Sassy McSasserson

Oh the things kids say........and if you don't write them down, you forget, so here I go.

Last night, after Leeza's bath, I was trying to get her to stop jumping on her bed to get her jammies on. I have learned to just not argue, cuz she digs her heels in more. I just tell her "ok, when you're ready, come get mommy" and I leave the room. Usually, within a few minutes, she calls me and tells me she is "ready to be nice".

Sure enough, 5 minutes later, she calls me and tells me she's ready to be nice and read books. Then she tells me, "Mommy, it's not dark yet, it's not time for bed". I said, "well, actually, Leeza, it is dark out now, look outside", to which she says "No, mommy, listen to me, the sun has NOT set". She's so freakin cute it's hard to get mad at her sometimes. :)

Her big brother Joey is in town from California and she LOVES him. She told me "Mommy, I love Joey. I love Joey More" I said "More, more than what". She replies "More than mommy, and daddy, and Sean". I told her that we love EVERYBODY in our family and we don't love anymore MORE than anyone else. However, I am glad she loves her big brother so much. :)

Here are a few pictures of Leeza...after swimming with a fudgesicle, and playing in the pool with Sean and his buddy Chad. They ripped off Elmo's feet. :(

34 months today! 2 more months until she's 3! whoa!

I can't believe my baby is going to be 3 in 2 months!!!! The photo was taken yesterday at our friends house where we were celebrating the 4th. What's really cool about it is that the photographer used photoshop and made me skin uber smooth. :) Leeza, although getting old, needs no help with wrinkles at the ripe old age of "almost 3".

Ahh Leeza...at 34 months, you weigh 30 lbs and are 37 inches tall. You are getting more and more coordinated...you love to play catch and kick a ball, and do gymnastics. You love to stand against a wall and do a headstand with your feet up against the wall for balance. You are strong! You are a GREAT swimmer and growing more and more confident all the time. I see a future in swim team for you! You love to do art and you love love love PRETEND play. You are slowly morphing out of Sesame Street (sadness!) and your new loves are Beauty and the Beast, and Tinkerbell. I took you to church yesterday and you sat in my lap during the entire service and you were so good! I could not believe it. Your attention span is getting SO much better.

While you are growing and maturing in so many ways, you still get frustrated, at times for no reason, and just pitch a fit out of the blue. I know it's normal, but super frustrating. :) What seems to work is to have you go to your room until you can pull it together and maintain composure. :)

You LOVE to play in your princess tent. I cleaned it out on one of our rainy days here recently and put in a bunch of stuffed animals, a basket of books, some musical instruments, and some blocks and lego's. You love to spend time in there playing and singing. I really love your imagination.

I still can't believe you're almost 3!! :) You're such a sparkly ray of light. I love you Leeza Grace! You are a lil firecracker for sure!

Summer fun!

I can't even believe it's July ALREADY! I was in Target the other day getting Ms. Leeza a new movie or two, and they're already putting out BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLIES!

We are having a great summer. Leeza has completed 3 weeks of camp, everyday, from 9-12, followed by swimming lessons, followed by a nap. :) It's been working out very well. Emilie is just amazing with Leeza. She has a gift with children, for sure. I know I could not teach her to swim. She stops what she's doing when I come out and watch so I stay inside and peek out the window. :)

It's been a rainy past few days, and Leeza watched the Tinkerbell movie on the Disney channel with Daddy one night, and LOVED IT and would not stop talking about it. So...off to Target I went to look for it. I got Tinkerbell and Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure. Who KNEW Tinkerbell was so freakin cool? I really enjoyed the movies and fairies are cool. Sadly, Sesame Street can't compete with the new love Leeza has for Beauty and the Beast, and now Tinkerbell. She still loves all her Elmo books and Elmo toys though.

I went to trade in some of her shoes at a consignment store yesterday and ended up finding a BONANZA of a book sale. She already has quite the extensive library, (just like Sean did) but I just can't resist new books. I ended up finding her about 50 or 60 new books, for about $70, including a new bookcase, one of those cloth numbers that you can slide the books in. I spent naptime rearranging her books, and setting up her princess tent for a lil Leeza haven. It now has a basket of books, lots of stuffed animals, some musical instruments, some blocks, and big stuffed animals to lay on. Oh my gosh, was it a hit. She spent a long time in there playing.

I found this easel at the consignment store a few weeks ago. Leeza LOVES to paint, and it's a great rainy day activity too.

If her painting career is a bust, she can always try for American Idol....

Curious George LIVE!

Leeza and I saw another "live" show today....this time is was Curious George Live. We have a few Curious George books and Leeza seems to love (or maybe it's her mommy who REALLY loves it) all the live shows with singing and dancing. I used to take Sean to all these shows, and I am so happy to have someone else to take. I really enjoy them and Leeza really seems to like them too. She just HAPPENED to have a Curious George outfit with matching bows, so, we kinda HAD to go because you can't waste an outfit like that!! She looked really cute, if you ask me. She of course got tons of compliments and lots of "ooh look at that lil girls outfit". :) Yes, I have a sickness but dressing Leeza is SO MUCH FUN! :)

I sprung for VIP tickets....we sat 3 rows from the stage. We also got a photo opp with the monkey himself. It was TOTALLY WORTH IT! We were so close we could see the dancers sweat beads. :) My favorite costume was the dancing spaghetti and meatballs...TOTALLY CUTE!!! Curious George was mad talented, he even danced on top of a big beach ball. The dancers did aeriel cartwheels too. It was so entertaining!!

Despite Leeza being a PITA before we left for the show (a fight over which shoes to wear), once we arrived she had a blast. She sat on my lap for much of the show, clapping and enthralled with the music. She stood up and got her dance on for a bit too. :)

Since I sprung for the pricey seats, we avoided buying any food or any CG paraphenilia. We brought our own popcorn and juice!

Leeza was sad when it was over and wanted to "watch it again". We were going to go to Chic Fil A for lunch, but she fell asleep on the way home, and is still taking a nap. YAY!

33 month stats

I took Leeza to the doc today because she woke up yesterday from her nap with a fever. She still has a fever of 102, but no ear infection or anything (which was my concern due to all her swimming) so she probably just has a summer virus.

They weighed and measured her though and she has grown grown grown!
My lil peanut is now 30 1/4 pounds and 37 1/8 inches tall! She has moved up to the 55% percentile in weight and stayed at 60th in height. She is lookin good!! :)

She is in her second week at camp (but she had to miss water day today cuz of her fever...boo) and she LOVES IT! She is having a blast! It's just 4 kids from her preschool class and they get all kinds of attention and time to play. She really has a great time.

She is doing GREAT at swimming....and I love how Emilie really works with her to have correct form. We are doing well, enjoying our very hot and humid summer. :)
